AFC Cherries Community Fund makes a donation to the Trust
Huge thanks to AFC Bournemouth and the Cherries Community Fund for supporting the HealthBus Trust and awarding the charity £1000.00! Deano and Bels had the honour of being invited to the AFC Vitality Stadium where they were welcomed by Jeff, Steve and Marcus. This generous donation will support the ongoing outreach work across Bournemouth as the Trust continues to bring hope and care for those who are experiencing homelessness in the community.
AFC Bournemouth’s popular half-time Cherries Community Draw gives supporters the chance to win cash prizes while helping the local community through the Cherries Community Fund. At each home game, supporters can purchase tickets priced at £1 to go into the draw. The more tickets you buy, the more chance you have of winning, with all proceeds going directly into the Cherries Community Fund. The fund, set up by the club, has provided financial assistance to projects that help to develop young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle in the area of Dorset.
The fund will be financed from the proceeds of the popular Cherries Community Draw and any other donations the club receives. Groups can put in applications for up to £1,000 worth of funding, which will then be judged by a three-man panel, comprising of Jeff Mostyn, head of community Steve Cuss and first team player Marcus Tavernier. The panel meet quarterly throughout the year and panels are scheduled in March, June, September and December.
Since 2016, the Cherries Community Fund has donated a huge £187,253.67 back into the local community.
“We are honoured to stand with and support the remarkable charities who make such a difference in our community. Thank you for what you do.” – Jeff Mostyn, AFC Bournemouth Chairman”
