Phillipa Rolle’s Fundraising Venture for the HealthBus: An Interview with BBC Radio Solent
On 09 August 2024, BBC Radio Solent’s Steve Harris interviewed Phillipa Rolle, a remarkable individual known for her annual extreme challenges to support vital charities. Phillipa, who has conquered numerous endurance races across the UK and Europe, is now preparing for her next formidable test in Scotland.
Phillipa’s upcoming challenge is the 215-mile Race Across Scotland Ultra, which begins on August 10, 2024. This grueling endurance race is dedicated to raising funds for the HealthBus Trust, a charity providing essential healthcare services to the homeless.
During the interview, Phillipa shared her motivation: “Every year I try and raise money and awareness for our local hospital. This year I thought I’d focus that attention on people who have limited to no access to simple healthcare due to being homeless. Having personally seen how mental health affects our young community and in one particular instance, led to a young man going homeless in Poole and ultimately found on a park bench frozen in London, really struck a chord with me. So having access to health professionals could help limit and treat illness even signpost them to a better outcome.”
Phillipa has been rigorously training for months, enhancing her strength and readiness for one of the UK’s most demanding endurance races. Her dedication and determination are set to make a significant impact on raising awareness and funds for the HealthBus Trust, providing crucial healthcare access to those in need.
