Bournemouth University students engage in HealthBus Project

Eleven Second-year BA Hons Media students at Bournemouth University will be collaborating with the HealthBus Trust on a 9-week project. Working to a live brief, these students will be exploring the barriers and challenges faced by those that are experiencing homelessness whilst exploring innovative ways to engage a new generation to take interest in local charity needs.

The HealthBus is committed to raising the awareness of homeless issues and promote best practice in the field through delivering research projects and public lectures and writing educational publications and challenging societal and healthcare attitudes. Such a project with undergraduate students allows them to explore and wrestle with many of the social misconceptions and issues faced by homelessness.

“This project will allow BA students to discover potential solutions to support the essential work that charities undertake. We want to challenge their own unconscious bias and expose them to the challenges that people in our town who are experiencing homelessness face. Our aim is to inspire a new generation to care and take action in their own communities.”Deano Pickering, Head of Fundraising and Marketing.
