The KFC Foundation Shortlisting for UK Charities

The KFC Foundation is working on making closer links to the young people who benefit from the grants offered. The HealthBus was selected to help the Foundation with how they spend their money in the support of other charities across the UK.

The Foundation seek to involve young people/ beneficiaries in the shortlisting process for grant applications so that they can inform whether they think that a project is relevant to young people and whether is it something the Foundation should consider making a grant for. To support the shortlisting process, 4 young volunteers from Poole High School offered their assistance to help the HealthBus team with the KFC shortlisting. Alfie, Jonah, Meg and Amelia assessed 5 different projects ranging from theatre support in a safe place to raise confidence,  to mentoring and supporting young people with severe disabilities.

The group were given criteria to mark each project and then to decide whether they would support the cause, ask for more information, or pass. The group stated,

“It was really interesting hearing about different causes in the UK to help vulnerable children. It wasn’t easy to decide which would get our full support as they were all so meaningful! However, it was a great experience to help the HealthBus and the KFC Foundation. Thank you!”

Having benefited from The KFC Foundation grant in the past, it was an honour to support the Foundation to make decisions on other fantastic causes. The HealthBus team look forward in supporting the Foundation again in the future.
