HealthBus Shines at Vitality Bay Run with Record Turnout and Community Support
On Sunday 23 March 2025, HealthBus proudly took part in the Vitality Bay Run with its largest ever team of runners, volunteers, and supporters — turning the event into a vibrant celebration of community, compassion, and resilience. In a powerful show of unity and purpose, 63 runners took on a variety of races including the 21K, 10K, 5K and 1K challenges, all raising vital awareness and funds for the award-winning homeless healthcare charity.
The weather was perfect for running, with blue skies and sunshine setting the scene for a day filled with energy and inspiration. Along the course, 14 marshals from the HealthBus community ensured participants were safe and cheered on, while 14 volunteers worked in the Race Village to share the story of HealthBus, connect with members of the public, and run a charity raffle — which proved hugely popular and helped to spread awareness about homelessness and the healthcare needs of vulnerable people in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole.
Local businesses showed incredible generosity and solidarity, with Envista, AJC Group, Walker, Marsham Court Hotel, The White Bear, and Zest all contributing through sponsorship, fundraising, and runners. Their support underscored the importance of corporate partnerships in helping HealthBus deliver life-changing care to those who need it most.
A particularly emotional highlight was the participation of two current HealthBus patients, who ran proudly in the HealthBus t-shirts. One of them, Max, shared: “HealthBus team are amazing. They have kept me alive and supported me in so many ways. Being able to run is my way of saying thank you. I did 10K — it was amazing — so I then ran the 5K… two medals in one day! I’ve done something I thought I could never do.”
Max’s story moved many, highlighting the true impact of HealthBus’s compassionate, person-centred approach to healthcare. His achievement is a testament to the strength and resilience of those facing homelessness and the power of supportive relationships to inspire recovery and transformation.
The event marked not just a fundraising triumph but a celebration of community spirit. HealthBus would like to thank everyone who ran, volunteered, donated, or simply cheered from the sidelines. Together, we are making strides — both on the track and in the fight against health inequality.
