Complete Care Community Symposium 2024, Feedback Sharing Lessons Learned
The Complete Care Community Programme (CCCP) stands as a pioneering national initiative, meticulously crafted to fortify healthcare systems leveraging Primary Care Networks in confronting the pervasive issue of health disparities. The recent CCCP Symposium, conducted from 29 February to 01 March 2024, at the renowned De Vere Latimer Estate in Buckinghamshire, served as a beacon for over 150 delegates dedicated to combatting health inequities. Spearheaded by the esteemed James Kingsland, OBE, the symposium provided a fertile ground for the exchange of insights, unveiling evidence-backed strategies, and charting viable solutions to the complex tapestry of health inequalities prevailing across England.
The symposium served as a vibrant platform for participants to delve into the spectrum of innovative health initiatives, with candid reflections on both successes and setbacks. Delegates earnestly shared their experiences, illuminating valuable lessons learned, as well as dissecting initiatives that faced challenges and discerning the underlying reasons.
Among the noteworthy contributions, the HealthBus team seized the opportunity to impart invaluable insights gleaned from their endeavours in engaging and supporting individuals grappling with homelessness, navigating the formidable barriers obstructing their access to essential healthcare services.
As phase one of the programme unfolds, it has already eclipsed its targets for identified demonstrator sites, buoyed by secured regional funding from NHS England and NHS Improvement. The momentum is palpable as efforts are underway to bolster these sites in their quest to address multifaceted health inequality challenges. Issues ranging from knife crime, obesity, and the unique healthcare needs of prison populations, to the delicate terrain of child and adolescent mental health, are being earnestly tackled.
At its core, the Complete Care Community Programme aspires to foster a more systematic and holistic approach towards redressing the entrenched health disparities endemic within communities. It champions a proactive stance, aiming not just to address symptoms, but to delve into the root causes, empowering communities to manage and mitigate these disparities effectively.
