HealthBus Welcomes Senior System Leaders to Discuss Health Inequalities

On 1 May 2026, the HealthBus senior leadership team, trustees and Patron, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Professor Michael Dooley LVO, were delighted to host Jonathan Higman, the new ICB CEO for Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire, Dorset, and Somerset Integrated Care Boards, alongside Aidan Dunn, Chief Executive of BCP Council.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to connect personally, share the story and impact of HealthBus, and outline how its specialist nurse-led service supports people experiencing homelessness who are often unable to access mainstream healthcare.

Discussions focused on the role HealthBus can play in supporting the ambitious plans of both BCP Council and the newly forming ICB, particularly around health inequalities, prevention, integrated community care and partnership working.

HealthBus Chairman Chris Wakefield stated, “We were delighted to connect with both Jonathan and Aidan and to share more about HealthBus, our model of care delivery, and the impact it has on patients, the wider community, and the health sector. We want to see people across BCP thrive, and we believe our model of healthcare is supporting and saving lives across our town. We are here to help, and we sincerely want to ensure that improved access to healthcare is available for those we serve, while removing the barriers that contribute to health inequalities. By working together, we can help ensure better, sustained healthcare for people facing homelessness across our communities.”

HealthBus is grateful for the opportunity to strengthen relationships with senior system leaders and explore future collaboration.
