His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Professor Michael Dooley LVO as Patron

HealthBus Trust is delighted to announce that His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Professor Michael Dooley LVO, became a Patron of HealthBus Trust on 17 February 2026.

Professor Dooley is a highly respected Dorset civic figure with a long-standing career in medicine and public service. A consultant clinician by background, he has spent decades working to improve patient care and championing excellence, compassion, and integrity within healthcare. Alongside his clinical work, he is known across the county for his commitment to community life, supporting voluntary organisations, celebrating local achievement, and encouraging initiatives that strengthen wellbeing and opportunity for all.

What the Lord-Lieutenant role means

The Lord-Lieutenant is His Majesty The King’s personal representative in Dorset. The role is non-political and focuses on civic leadership and community connection. Key responsibilities include:

  • Arranging and supporting Royal visits across the county

  • Presenting honours, medals, and awards on behalf of His Majesty

  • Encouraging public recognition through the honours system

  • Acting as a key link in supporting the Armed Forces community, including reserve and cadet units

  • Promoting and celebrating Dorset’s voluntary, charitable, and civic life

A shared commitment to changing lives

Professor Dooley’s decision to become a Patron reflects his passion for meaningful causes and his belief that communities thrive when people are supported with dignity, compassion, and practical action. HealthBus exists to remove barriers to healthcare for people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage, taking expert-led, nurse-led clinical care directly to those who would otherwise go without.

As Patron, Professor Dooley will help champion our mission, strengthen awareness of health inequalities, and support our commitment to ensuring that the work of HealthBus continues to change lives, restore hope, and bring healthcare to people who need it most.
