HealthBus and Dorset HealthCare celebrate Winter Wellness Day success
HealthBus Trust and Dorset HealthCare are celebrating the success of their collaborative Winter Wellness Day, which brought 24 organisations together to support people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
With 97 professionals supporting the event, 84 attendees accessed services spanning healthcare, housing, mental health, drug and alcohol support, welfare advice and community services. Bringing these teams together under one roof helped create a welcoming environment where people could seek practical support and connect with specialist care. The day delivered 52 vaccinations, 36 liver screens, 26 HealthBus nursing appointments and 8 sexual health appointments. 7 people registered as new HealthBus patients, creating opportunities for ongoing care and support.
Alongside healthcare, partners provided 15 haircuts, undertook 15 housing conversations and assessments, and made 4 MEAM connections with experts by experience. A total of 210 toasties and refreshments helped encourage conversation and connection throughout the day. Beyond these achievements, the event’s positive atmosphere reflected the compassion and commitment of everyone involved. Meaningful conversations took place, relationships developed, and attendees engaged with services they might otherwise have struggled to access.
HealthBus extends heartfelt thanks to Holly and the Dorset HealthCare team, alongside every organisation and professional who contributed their time, expertise and enthusiasm.
The Winter Wellness Day demonstrated how collaboration can improve access to support and strengthen partnerships. Feedback from attendees and participating organisations will help shape future events, building on this success and creating further opportunities to bring coordinated, compassionate care to people who need it most in our community.
