HealthBus Launches Women’s Healthcare Briefing at Trauma-Informed Outreach Training

On 03 June 2026, HealthBus Trust, in partnership with the University of Southampton’s Centre for Homelessness Research and Practice, hosted a bespoke Psychological/Trauma-Informed Outreach training day at the Marsham Court Hotel, Bournemouth.

The session brought together 114 attendees from 30 organisations across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Dorset, all working within the homelessness sector. Feedback from the day was outstanding, with participants praising Professor Nick Maguire’s comprehensive and practical session on Trauma-Informed Care and Psychologically Informed Environments. His training explored how trauma, chronic stress, homelessness and inequality affect trust, behaviour and engagement, while equipping frontline teams with practical tools to strengthen compassionate, safe and relational support.

The day also marked the launch of the new policy briefing, Women’s Healthcare in Homelessness: A Relational Model of Healthcare for Women Experiencing Homelessness in Bournemouth. Developed through the Care+Her project, the briefing highlights key learning around women’s health inequalities, trauma, sexual and reproductive health, trust-building outreach, and the importance of nurse-led, holistic care delivered “at the pace of trust.”
